Work Comp Rates down 7% effective 2/1/15
NCCI, the governing body for Workers Compensation, has suggested a 7% rate decrease for workers compensation rates in Nebraska effective 2/1/15. Workers compensation rates are set by the State Department of Insurance, then individual insurance carriers apply a loading factor called a Loss Cost Multiplier (LCM) to the base rates, giving each carrier different final rates for workers compensation. As a result of the base rate decrease, several insurance companies have increased their LCM’s to keep premiums flat, instead of passing on the savings to the business owners.
